Daily Dabble 2/28/12

I couldn't wait for the numbness to wear off from the dentist this morning....and now I am wishing I had it back. Goodness my teeth are killing me and it sure makes for a grumpy mommy. Ming is pretty miserable with a faucet for a nose and red, sleepy eyes. She was in her room for about 3 hours this afternoon and never fell asleep. Carter had so much fun with Amanda today and Drew got all 10 stickers at school today - YAY!!!!!!! I am counting down the minutes until you get home....and until bedtime - for the kids and me. It might be an ice cream kind of night.

Potty Time

We took the leap and started potty training 2/21/12. She was showing all the signs and I thought I better take the chance while she was so willing and ready.

Day 1: SUCCESS. Naked the first half of the day and Carter's underwear the second half. Dry diaper after nap. No accidents all day! Yay!

Day 2: Reality sets in. I rethink my craziness of attempting this with my 22 month old. Three accidents. More nakedness. No leaving the house for two days.

The last accident was my fault. I wanted her to go before bed and told her she could have a candy if she went potty. I went to the candy cupboard first....big mistake. I told her she gets a candy if she goes potty. She looked down and peed right there....apparently she really wanted that candy. Lesson learned....to the potty FIRST, candy second!

She will get this....I have to remind myself this. I realize it would probably be bad to turn back now. I would probably confuse the little peanut. We are holding strong and hopefully this sticks!

Day 3: Success in the morning....a couple accidents in the afternoon. I would help if she could talk a little better. It is great if I am watching her and see her cues...but if not - we are on to another pair of underwear!

She now has little girl underwear that she loves, but I still roll at the top. Apparently 2T is the smallest they come!

Day 7: She is getting it, but still has some accidents. She wears underwear all the time except for naps and nighttime (pull up time). She made it through errands on Saturday with NO accidents - yay! I think the more she talks the better it will get. So far so good...I am not giving up yet!

Daily Dabble 2/27/12

Daily dabble.....daily vent is more like it for today! The day started off well with getting all my cleaning, laundry, dishes, etc done. I even managed to cut Carter's hair before Maylee woke up. (Then again his hair cutting lasts a week because it is inevitable that I miss curls and trim all week long!) The princess woke up with a fever and not feeling too well. Thank goodness for Barney! One accident and a few snacks later she was ready for a nap and so was I! Carter has been a bit testy and Drew is in meltdown mode .

Playtime in the playroom: Carter has letter puzzle, Drew wants letters, I offer shapes puzzle and he rejects, Carter wants shapes puzzle and gives Drew letters, Drew rejects letters and then wants shapes. ARG! They are now outback playing with squirt bottles and Ming is still sleeping. Breathe!

 

Jayce and Drew

Jayce is so good with Andrew and Drew just loves Jayce. Drew just snuggled up on Jayce's lap and Jayce just held him. It was so sweet. Cousins are something special....

Loving Valentine's Day

We started Valentine prep early this year. I had some ideas that I wanted to try out so I knew I needed time to get it all done. We made family Valentines, teacher/therapist valentines, and school valentines.

It was a very happy Valentine's Day in deed. Bry surpised me with a candle lit table complete with presents, flowers, love coupons and my most favorite...a card lovingly inscribed by my one and only. I went and got Paradise Bakery and we enjoyed dinner by candle light with "our song" playing in the background...just me and him...while the kids were in bed. It was quite lovely!

Little Miss Maylee

Maylee is getting big and just seems to be getting older....

We are getting closer to potty training and I am so nervous. My boys were much older, but Maylee is showing all the signs. SHe has even went pee on her potty three times and even did the other once! If she is naked and I am nearby she lets me know when she has to go! Do they even make underwear small enough for her little bum!? And yes, she likes to be naked and she ate her breakfast in the buff...without an accident. Love that little face!

She loves to climb and color, she loves her blanket and her cousin, she loves to play in Carter's crib (yes, my 3 almost 4 year old is still in a crib and has not climbed out yet....)

She absolutely ADORES her Grammy and her little face lights up if you mention her name! She got her first real owie at a friend's house for dinner. She was holding onto a rocking chair and it moved and she lost her balance and bonked her sweet little cheek on the edge. Poor baby...

She loves shoes, has a very small amount of very crazy hair, loves her babies and wants them wrapped in a blanket, loves purses, loves shoes and loves playing with our new plastic cups and plastic-ware!

She is sassy, sweet, snuggly, funny, and quite the little diva. We adore her and love watching her grow and change. She is talking more and has expanded her vocabulary.  With the pressure from her pediatrician to get her to 20 words by 2 years we stopped talking for her and made her start talking. In her own cute way she says: up, help, me, over, more, thank you, mom, dad, patty, uh-oh, mine, ball, Hailee, juice, ya, no, please.....and I bet I am missing a couple more, but she says these in her oh so cute little way!

She has had quite a few ear infections and bouts of pink eye in the last couple months, but is doing okay for now. Her last weigh in was 19 lbs 1 oz....yay! She is gaining and catching up!

Chocolate cake was the request so chocolate cake it was! 

Lucky little turkey had mom and dad our here for her birthday and it was so fun! Can I just say that my mom always wraps things so pretty and picks the best presents. What a wonderful mommy she is!

Shelley is quite the wonderful mommy herself....Miss Hailee is just as lucky as us girls are in the mommy department!
