Sugar...sugar...and more sugar

I am thankful for sugar. I have a serious sweet tooth. We have been really restricting our sugar intake so it was fun to take a break and have some serious sugar craziness. We did a gingerbread house contest with the girls versus the boys and the kiddos had their own too! We had a blast and they all turned out great!

We had quite the candy assortment...little (and big) fingers found there way up there quite often.

The kids ate and decorate. Lainy really went to town once she got her hands on the icing. I think theirs turned out fabulous! See Carter eating candy....the child loves his "treats"

Lu was the team lead for the girls. We had so much fun!!!! The boys enjoyed themselves too I must say. They get a little competitive and quite creative. This is one of my favorite holiday traditions! Of course, no Osmun family event is complete without a little icing fight!

They all turned out great!!!

Adoption

I am thankful for adoption. It is through this amazing process that our family was blessed with a very amazing child. Andrew has blessed our lives in so many ways and I cannot imagine our family complete without him. He recently asked if he was in my tummy like Carter and Maylee....with a lump in my throat I told him he wasn't, but that that he grew in my heart. I am not sure why it was hard to say that out loud....I guess he is my son and I love him beyond words...and it forget sometimes he didn't grow in my tummy, but oh we love him so much and I am so grateful he is a part of our eternal family. I am thankful for adoption and thankful for our Drewbie!

Organization

Carter is a child after my own organization loving blood. He loves it. He cleans. He organizes. He stacks. He lines things up. He puts away. I love it.

I am thankful for the ability to clean, organize, and plan. I am thankful for a healthy body and sound mind (well, most of the time that is).

So many reasons

I was thinking of so many things to be thankful for.....the color red...Christmas....Grammy.....baby bows....baby legs.....

pretty much anything and everything that gives me a reason to post this incredibly cute picture! Maylee loved spending time with Grammy for the few days they were here. It was so nice to have her so content even with me not holding her! And she looks so stinkin cute!!!!!

Truth

I am so grateful for the gospel and the truth and stability it provides for my family and personal life.

I am so thankful for the truth of the gospel. I am so blessed to have been born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It provides me with the foundation of pretty much everything in my life. Because of its restoration I can be with my family for eternity - wow. I love raising my children in such truths and seeing them grown and develop their own testimonies. I love my Saviour Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for the scriptures and our living prophet President Monson. I am thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows me and loves me.

Pumpkin Season

I am grateful for autumn...since is means a new realm of food and desserts. I am especially grateful for pumpkin desserts. I love them. Pumpkin squares....pumpkin bread.....pumpkin pie....and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. We made some cookies this Sunday and decided they were delicious warm - so cakey and ooey gooey, but oh man they are just down right addicting cold from the fridge. I may need to sneak one more with a cup of hot chocolate. Yuummmmm.

I'm Dreaming....

of a white Christmas! Yes, it would be fabulous to have a little snow, but I will take the cool 70° weather we are enjoying. The Christmas spirit has started early in our family this year. For some reason we are just so excited. It might be due to Bryan saving up some time off work and taking a couple extra days to spend at home. It is going to be wonderful! We usually wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate, but hey - we were a little excited. The boys loved it!!! They were so excited to go through the Christmas decorations. We also wanted to get things festive since we are going to decorate gingerbread houses on Friday at our house while family is in town. So fun!

I am thankful for this time of year. It draws family and friends closer together and is a holiday celebrating the birth of Christ.

Setting up the nativity was a big hit. I love watching my husband teach my boys

The Great Outdoors

I am not a big tent camping person, but I have to say I do enjoy nature. We have slim pickins' around here when it comes to lush green or even big shady areas, but we take what we can get. Last Sunday I told the boys we were going to go gather nature for a craft project. They were so excited. We all headed over to a Riparian Preserve (aka the closest place we have that has lots of plants, water, and birds). It was so nice and the boys had fun gathering leaves, sticks, and seed pods for our project. This week we worked on the project all the while practicing our letters. I think it turned out pretty cute and it reminds me how grateful I am to a loving Father in Heaven who has blessed me with so much.

Slow Cookin'

I am thankful for my crockpot. I love it. I love that I can put a meal together in the morning (and sometimes the night before) and just let it go. It sits and simmers and makes my house smell divine! It is a wonderful invention. Anything that makes dinner planning and prep easier gets a gold star by me. I am so excited for this cooler weather....which means more warm crockpot meals! Yum!

Worth a Thousand Words

I love pictures. I take so many. I have been going through old pictures for a couple different projects I have going on and I love it. I love sitting with my kids in front of our TV (hooked up to a computer) and watching the pictures flash. Time goes by so quickly and I am so thankful to have these pictures to remember all the little things...and the precious moments.

Seven Months - November 15th

Our Little Princess is 7 months old. I can hardly believe it!.

She is getting bigger and becoming more aware of her surroundings.

She loves her mommy and is not afraid to show it.

She smiles like crazy and is starting to blow raspberries.

She is starting to learn how to sit up.

Started on solids. She has tried rice cereal (loves it), oatmeal (loves it), peas (loves them), green beans (so so), carrots (so so), and has munched on my apples (loves them) and banana (so so).

Can roll back to front and front to back with no problem at all. She is getting quite mobile! She can turn any direction on her belly to get a toy or see someone (usually me). She is such a ham!

Gets up on her knees a bit more.

Is more on a schedule of 2-3 naps a day and only waking once at night to eat.

Still not a huge fan of the car, but has found her thumb which makes it WAY better and she can actually fall asleep in the car now.

She is pretty much out of 0-3 month clothes except for a few items...mostly 3-6 month and 6 month jammies. (I think I said this exact same thing last month!)

She laughs a little, but nothing like a belly laugh or giggle. Just little bits of laugh when you tickle her, but oh man she has smiling down to an art!

She loves bath time with her brothers. And just any attention from her brothers!

I think she has colic since she is fussy the same time every night. I can get her to bed at 7 or 8 or 9 and she wakes up crying with a tummy ache and gas.  Poor baby. We had tried altering my diet, her diet, gas drops, colic drops, teething gel, etc.....I usually can get her to bed for the night by 10 or 11. She has gotten better over the months, but she is still not the easiest baby by any means, but it is okay....I am soaking up every baby moment we have with her. Times goes by too quickly to not enjoy every second!

She was late to see the doc for her 6 month check and we went in at 6 1/2 months so we don't go back until she is 8 months. I am guessing she is over 12 lbs now and pushing 24 inches. She is eating and growing great! We just adore our little peanut!

Two for One

I am thankful for the internet and other people's blogs. I have a blog that I follow and the author is also doing the thankful November thing...and one of hers really just hit it on the nose and was what I needed. Here is a little snippet of what she wrote....

"the opportunity I am afforded to have stewardship over these sweet six (three) little angels for a time. Not everyone does, can, or will have this opportunity here on earth. I need to remember that I am being afforded the opportunity of a lifetime. However brief my time with them may be, it cannot be matched by any other experience and I should treat it with such value." She is thankful for opportunity.

I have to say I am thankful for opportunity too...the opportunity to love my children every single day and for the sweet honor it is to be their mommy.

She kept repeating in her post "Just love 'em" which is a great motto and reminder when it comes to raising these little people who know just how to tug on my heart strings, as well as push my buttons.

When Mike was three he wanted a sandbox,
And his father said, “There goes the yard, We’ll have kids over here day and night and they’ll throw sand and it’ll kill the grass for sure.”
And Mike’s mother said, “It’ll come back.”

When Mike was five, he wanted a jungle gym
With swings that would take his breath away
And bars to take him to the summit,
And his father said, “Good grief. I’ve seen those things in back yards, and do you know what the yards look like? Mud holes in a pasture! Kids digging their gym shoes in the ground. It’ll kill the grass.”

Between breaths, when Daddy was blowing up the plastic
Swimming pool, he warned, “They’ll track water everywhere and they’ll have a million water fights and you won’t be able to take out the garbage without stepping in mud up to your neck and we’ll have the only brown lawn on the block.”

And Mike’s mother said. “It’ll come back.”
When Mike was twelve, he volunteered his yard for a camp-out.
As the boys hoisted the tents and drove in the spikes,
Mike’s father said, “You know those tents and all those big feet are going to trample down every single blade of grass, don’t you? Don’t bother to answer. I know what you’re going to say—It’ll come back.”

Just when it looked as if the new seed might take root,
Winter came and the sled runners beat it into ridges,
And Mike’s father shook his head and said, “I never asked for much in this life—only a patch of grass.”
And Mike’s mother said, “It’ll come back.”

Now Mike is eighteen. The lawn this year is beautiful—
Green and alive and rolling out like a carpet
Along the drive where gym shoes had trod,
Along the garage where bicycles used to fall,
And around the flower beds where little boys used to dig with teaspoons.

But Mike’s father doesn’t notice.
He looks anxiously beyond the yard and asks,
“Mike will come back, won’t he?”

Clean Water

I am so thankful for readily available water. Bottled water to drink, ice to keep cool, water to swim in, water to clean dishes and clothes, water for plants, water to shower and bathe in, and water to bathe my babies in every night!

Little Things

I am grateful for the little things that make little people so happy....for tonight that meant sock puppets!
