Sweet 'n Sour

Love that Bry goes to work later in the morning...hate that he gets home later in the evening, but let's focus on the positive.

Bry does my dishes in the morning...makes an omelet for the both of us to have for lunch...and makes a smoothie for breakfast...almost every morning. It is pretty fantastic I must say!

Well, Wednesday morning I had a dentist appointment super early and came home at 9 to a smoothie made and my man doing dishes. I was quite numb still, but took a lick of the smoothie. It tasted a bit sour, but I thought my taste buds must be off. He was excited to try it and took a swig.  He had used 2 oranges and a lemon as the base....as well as some other frozen fruit...and added a few of the lemonade ice cubes I had in the freezer.

I paused...lemonade ice cubes??

Oooohh you mean the straight lemon juice I had squeezed the night before to keep in the freezer to make fresh lemonade later one??! That lemon juice?! No wonder the smoothie was a bit tart with six cubes of straight lemon juice...needless to say we added some agave nectar. I so love my cute husband!

Nine Months!

Nine Months and on the Move!

Miss Maylee turned 9 months...9 months! She is getting so big and yet still so little. I have loved to watch her change and develop this past month. She is really starting to figure things out.

Miss Maylee is on the move. She has learned to crawl and it is the cutest thing ever! She loves being able to get around and reach things to play with. I have to keep paper and shoes off of the floor since they seem to be her favorite things to chew on.

She loves food. She will eat baby food, but really loves to share real people food and she is pretty good at it! She thoroughly enjoyed her first quesadilla and little nibble of grilled cheese. She likes pasta, hamburger, and french fries (no surprise there). She will eat black beans, lunch meat, peas, and cooked carrots. She just absolutely HAS to have anything I am eating or drinking through a straw.

She occasionally takes a paci, but likes to play with it more than just soothing herself with it.

Maylee has had some fun with her friends lately...apparently the swing with Hailee was not a big hit in her book. At least Hailee and Maylee made up with a couple kisses! I think her little friends like her eyes since they always seem to be at them - so funny!

Maylee moved into her own room. It was bitter sweet, but she sleeps SO much better in there most of the time. She still does't have a crib (Carter is in ours) but she sleeps great in the nice pack n play that we have in there now. I am in love with the branch and 3D flowers we put on her wall....

She is better in the car these days unless we are in there for a looong time, but such a change from what she used to do in the car!

She does this cute curly thing with her tongue that is just too funny. She is developing quite the personality and it is just adorable!

I have started making her new flowers. These were my first pattern and attempt. I have since learned some really cute new ones...I will be posting pictures of those ones soon!

Words

There are bad words and realllly bad words and words you didn't realize were bad words until they come out of your child's mouth. I never understood why my mom didn't want me saying certain words growing up - they weren't the "bad" words, but words she didnt like.....sucks, shut up, stupid, etc...

I now know why. I don't like those words either. They sound terrible coming from a little boy's mouth. Drew called me stupid in the car today.

I turned on the headlights which in turn dimmed the lighting to the movie they were watching. He said "Hey! I can't see!" I thought it was funny so I laughed....he responded with a "You supid". I shut that movie off as quick as I could and had a little chat with that cute little boy in the back seat. I don't think he really knew that it meant, but had heard it before, but goodness help that child - he better not say that again, especially to his mama!!

Eye to Eye

If we are talking...please please please tell me if I have a crazy piece of hair, something in my teeth, or a smudge of make-up on my cheek...for goodness sake just tell me and don't just keep staring and glancing at the top of my head, my teeth, etc, etc Just tell me! If I am in the right mood, I might come right out and ask if something is wrong...is my hair crazy? but most often I am more insecure and try to move my head to the side and slide my hand on my hair to smooth any unruly hair (which is often the case with a mommy of two little boys and a princess) So really - just tell me if I look a little disheveled so I can put myself together and we can talk eye to eye without you glancing at the top of my head the entire conversation - it is very distracting!

Making Time

Time seems to slip away when we are in Cali and there is never enough time to visit with everyone we would like, but this time I was bound and determined to spend some time with my dear friend Liz! We headed over to her house Sunday afternoon to let the little girls play (and the big girls visit!)

Carter found a pink "baby" just like his blue one he sleeps with every night.

Maylee was pretty stoked to play with Brynlee and all her new toys..not so sure Brynlee felt the same way!

She warmed up to the idea after a while!

Brynlee showed off her skills of sitting so well while Maylee showed off her new trick of crawling! I think their favorite activity was eating the plastic bag. I often wonder why we buy such expensive toys....maybe because they are usually safer than a plastic bag or piece of paper!

Maylee Rose and Brynlee Rose - due dates were exactly one week apart with Maylee the younger...but alas Maylee was early and Brylee a week early so they are now 5 weeks apart with Maylee the older. They are just adorable little princesses!

Maylee LOVED looking at Liz. She was just fixated on her for the longest time. It was so sweet.

Thank you Liz for all the adorable clothes. Maylee looked super cute in her new USC onsie!!

Cake, Farewell, and Long Awaited Visit

We attempted another trip to Cali this past weekend in hopes the car ride would go much better than our attempt a few months back. Maylee did not scream the entire time and all children actually fell asleep for the last two hours. Maylee went straight to bed when we got in and the boys enjoyed a little time with Grammy and Poppie before they went to bed.

Maylee was adored by everyone...and she definitely deserved it. Look at that cute little hand.

Saturday afternoon we headed to my brother's for their gender cake party. We were so glad we were out there to be able to go. Maylee loved being able to see Grammy during the ride there and back.

We managed to call all three remaining sisters so they could hear the news with the rest of us. The food was divine and the cake....was amazing!

It's a BOY!

Carter decided the middle rows were the best. Funny kid...I feel like I say that a lot.

One of Jess's Christmas presents from me. "Pick your nose" cups. It comes with assorted noses. Love them!

Of course there was snuggle time with Poppie. The boys were pretending to sleep...I am not too convinced!

We had the wonderful opportunity on Sunday to attend the farewell of our nephew Tyler. What an amazing young man who is truly ready to serve the Lord. I missed most of his talk due to a squeaky baby and a wiggly two year old, but it was so nice to spend time with him and the Baker family that afternoon. I wish I had pictures, but alas things were a bit busy (the Baker family is a little large in numbers which makes for lots of kids and lots of fun) and I left my camera in the car. We had so much fun though and were really glad we made the trip out to spend a little time with Tyler before he headed out.

Sunday afternoon we headed back to our hometown to visit my wonderful best friend Liz, but I will give that visit a post of its own...more pictures to come!

We had a really fun trip and the ride home was not too bad either. I think the kids travel better when we leave early in the morning. We love to visit Cali and are excited to take the kids to the beach in the summer!

Room Update

They look innocent enough, right?? Little did I know what that night would bring.

No, Carter does't climb out of his crib...count my blessings...and Drew has not tried to climb in (yet).

As for last night.....they went to bed...I heard playing...I went to check the door...the light was on....Drew was busted....I opened the door ready to scold only to find all their blankets and animals thrown off their bed.....and....wait for it....Carter.....TOTALLY NUDE laying on his back in bed. I had to turn around and run out to not let them see me laughing hysterically. Carter had managed to remove his only pair of footie jammies and take off his diaper. I got Bry for backup and while trying to supress a huge laughing fit on our part we redressed Carter and remade beds.

Crazy kids.....could be worse I suppose!

According to Drew

Drew and I were practicing spelling his name...and according to him it should be spelled.....

A followed by B of course (isn't A always followed by B?) then an M (Like mommy he says. I always knew M was better than N *smile*). The middle is a little rough, but the ending is fantastic.....W-X-Y-Z!

ABM...WXYZ - I love it!

How stinkin cute is my boy! Love it....
We will work on it...we will get there....until then I will enjoy the creativity of a child and watching the wheels turning in his cute little head!

A Little Nudge

I knew it was time to reorganize this cupboard...thanks for the extra push my dear son....

The BIG Move

We moved the boys into one room...together as of December 23rd. It needed to be done. I am not sure this was the smartest thing. My nap times and bed time are not nearly as smooth as they used to be.

***Yes....there room is a bright, bubblegum pink....a bad decision in color choice on my part when we first decided this would be Maylee's room....***

There is more noise, more playing, later nights, less naps, more animals being thrown, requests for water, jumping in bed, diaper removal, and a TON more giggling, laughing, and a new bond being born between my little boys. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea....now if only they can still get enough sleep.

You know they enjoy sharing a room when Drew requests nap time at 11:30.....just so they can play together.

As for now, the "honeymoon" period of it all has started to wear off. They don't play for two hours every night anymore and I think there has been a squabble or two when Drew gets too close to the Carter monster who reaches out from his cage.

I am a big fan and believer in them sharing a room though. The other night Drew had to go to bed before Carter since he didn't have a nap and Carter took a great nap. As I was putting Drew to bed he was just beside himself. He was crying saying "...but I LOVE Carter. I love him. Best friends. I love Carter". It was just about the sweetest thing ever. He still had to go to bed and Carter went to bed a while later.....and of course I reminded him to be quiet only to hear him loudly saying 10 minutes later - Quiet, quiet, quiet...over and over again. Apparently he was trying to wake Drew up....little stinker.

We have now had our fair share of water requests...complete with water spitting fight during nap time....

Then this morning.....oh this morning.....Drew wakes up insanely early sometimes - we're talking like 3 or 4:00 in the morning and I just put him back to bed with no problem. Well this morning started out the same. I put him back in bed....then just before 7:00 in the morning I heard a little shriek. I flew out of bed and looked down the hall and say their light on. I came into a room with two VERY awake little boys who had thrown all their blankets off their beds...removed their pants...and stood there with no diaper or underwear on. Oh goodness - I was not a happy mom. I know Drew woke Carter up....he was in trouble. Sigh - oh well. They both are taking naps today to say the least! Carter gets up at 8:15 or later every day, especially when he gets to stay up later because he took a late nap like he did yesterday....he was one tired boy come lunch time.

***We painted their room this past weekend and are excited to get their "sports" stuff hung on the walls! I will post pictures when it is all done***
