Dental Flop

I scheduled a dentist appointment for all three....or so I thought. Checked Drew out of school and headed to the office of the best pediatric dentist around. When we got there I had them double check scheduling only to find out Drew was not quite up to the 6 month mark between appointments so he could not be seen for another month. Great...nice going scheduling lady since it is HER job to check those kinds of things. Of course the little ones refused to get in the dental chair. Thank goodness for a fantastic doc, he had Drew get in the examination chair first and took a quick peek and that was all it took. Carter hopped up to get his teeth counted followed by Maylee. Neither little one would let them clean their teeth though. Ugh. BUT of course on the way home, about 15 minutes into the drive and only about 5 minutes from our house Carter announces that he wants them to clean his teeth. Sorry buddy, a little late for that- maybe next time. It takes a while for his nervousness to calm down, but once it does he is good. Fingers crossed for better luck next time!

First Days 2012-2013

Drewbie has settled right in at school. It is almost as if he never left. It is still hard to pull his daily activities out of him when he gets home, but he sure is a happy camper in the morning when he gets to get up and ready for the bus...even if waking up means 5:30 (sigh). He is so social and loves to be in his element which is with "friends"!!! I love this kid and his zest for life. Here is to another great year!!!

Carter's first day was a little rocky. He was excited to go until it was time for me to leave the class. He had our family picture in his pocket and as I pulled away from his arms and Mrs.Carter held him back she just closed in on himself and cried. It has SO hard for me not to cry. He was all smiles when I picked him him though! Less tears the following day and by Monday he had turned into a pro! No tears and all smiles. He has made friends and loves school. He was quite upset that he did not get to go on Wednesday (no preschool on Wednesdays). So glad this little man is coming out of his shell and loving to learn and make friends!

Goodness I miss my boys during the day....I have to admit I check the clock quite often to see when I get that "I'm home" hug and get to hear about their day...well, as much as I can get out of Drew and according to Carter, since I was not there I am not allowed to know. Nice.....

The Return of School

We have talked, prepped, shopped, and prayed in suspense of this upcoming school year. Drew is doing kindergarten and Carter is starting preschool. I know Drew will do great. He is super excited and LOVES school. Carter on the other hand loves to learn. He loves letters and numbers and "homework". He has been so excited to go to preschool with his new shirt and new backpack. He practically skipped across campus headed to his classroom in the 110° weather. He was STOKED.

That all changed when we talked in the adult and child filled room. She sunk back and clung behind me. He lowered his cute little red cheeked, faux-hawk haired head and barely peeked his big baby blues up to his teacher and to see his name on his bright yellow folder. We made our way through the room and he pulled my arm and as I bent down to his level he leaned really close to my ear and whispered "I'm afraid". Oh my heart and my sweet boy. After much coaxing and the help of a friend he made it over to get himself a drink of pink soda and to play in the sand table. Thank goodness for the teacher's aid whose name is Mrs. Carter - ah yes - something that made my boy smile. I can only imagine what Thursday morning is going to entail when I actually have to leave my baby there.....This is new territory - a child who is not bursting through the door to go to school. Fingers crossed he adjusts well and learns to love school and not just to learn!

Drew is ready to rock and roll. He has been asking to go to school every day this summer. He misses his friends I think! I love being so involved with him and his school and him being so ready to go - it helps balance out my anxiety. I think I get more nervous than my kids do for their first day of school!

Long, Super Fun Trip to the Shower

The sisters decided to head out to Cali for one more blast in summer to throw a baby shower for our sister in law and brother and their soon arriving baby girl. Shell was a bit leery on coming with newly potty trained Hailee, but she decided last minute to come along and I am SO glad she did. We left Wednesday and came home Sunday and had SO MUCH FUN!

Our car ride was essentially uneventful. The trip to the beach was a blast. The beach was empty and the weather was perfect.  Maylee kept making this funny face with the wind in her face. She was SO tired and a bit cranky to say the least. Hailee and the boys had SO MUCH FUN. We even saw a seal swim along the shoreline and climb on the rocks near us. We tried to get a cousin picture, but next time we will have their back to the ocean and be a little trickier on getting everyone to cooperate...it was a little crazy! We dug a big hole and stuck the kiddos on. Maylee obvious was NOT a fan. We filled in the hole and covered the boys with sand and all was well until Carter got sand flung in his face courtesy if Miss Hailee and he couldn't protect himself. That was a fun panic attack.

 

The kids and I had a fun visit with Grandma Dianna and visited the Reagan Library.

Friday night was baby shower prep fun and very little sleep!

Saturday was crazy busy and super fun. The shower was beautiful and it was SO fun to play with baby Milo. 

 

Saturday night was filled with more swimming and fun memories.

The drive home was a little long with the added excitement of a speeding ticket. Poor Shelley......she was amazingly calm and I was amazingly stressed and cleaned the car with a baby wipe the entire time we were waiting.

I love this time I have with my sisters to enjoy being together and making road trip so to Cali to see our parents! I love watching our kids make memories together and grow close as cousins!
