Summertime

We read A LOT of books. Maylee will sit in her room for a half hour or more going through books and books. Asking for more and more. Occasionally Carter and Drew will join in on the brain feeding. 

Carter is practicing his photography skills.

Drew is FISH. We tried out ice blocks which lasted all of two minutes in the pool! The girls do great with their floaties. And we have LOVED all the time we have had to spend with cousins!

We did a science experience with vinegar, dish soap, food coloring, glitter, and baking soda. The kids thought it was pretty cool!

Maylee is obsessed with honey....which is SO sticky. *sigh*

They are usually partially dressed and build cool things with blocks!

Summertime I have loved you this year. We have had so much fun. The kids get cranky and fight, but our fun far outweighs the rough patches. I am getting nervous for the countdown to school....I have two starting this year! I guess we will continue to soak up the fun and the sun while we can together!!!!

Happy Fourth of July!

We had a fun family morning! We went to the summer movies to see Mr. Poppers Penguins. The kids did great equipped with popcorn and soda and only one potty break! The kids were ELATED when the movie was over and we walked outside to pouring rain. Not a monsoon, but actual pouring rain. it was so fun getting soaked walking to the car in the warm rain. I wish I had a camera for Maylee's face. It was priceless and absolutely adorable. 

We had a quiet afternoon, but pulled it together for an evening of fun. We decided not to go too far so we headed a couple miles down the road to a high school for some relaxation in our 80° weather and fireworks. Carter, Maylee, and Hailee had a blast dancing to the live band. It was a bit loud at first, but they adjusted We brought pizza and just hung out. 

Drew was finally hit by the bug that has taken over my children so he was a bit under the weather. (first the fever for about 24-hours and then a horrific sore throat for....going on four days now)

They were STOKED for the fireworks. Drew was searching the skies...to make sure he wouldn't miss it. Once they started I had Carter and Maylee with me filled with excitement and ooooo's and aaahhhh's. They named shapes and colors. Drew snuggled with dad and kept his cute little ears covered. Daddy reassured him that they were NOT going to get us and he seemed to enjoy them a bit more! This was the first year that I think I spent more time watching my kids' faces than the sky. I love seeing their joy and excitement. It was a beautiful celebration of our country's birth!

Happy Birthday to My Love

Happy 31st birthday to my man!!!  After being away from home from almost a month we missed father's day and Bry's birthday snuck up on me! The boys picked out some gifts for dad all on their own which consisted of waterguns, glowsticks, and an Angry Birds puzzle. I was late on deciding what to get Bry so it was ordered off of Amazon and I just printed pictures of what it was and wrapped those! Carter drew a picture of himself on one of the presents...so cute!

 THE best peanut butter chocolate cake ever.....I am excited to try other cake mixes with the recipe and to change up the icing. Delicious! Bry says he now wants this cake every year...no changes!
