I love birthdays and even more so now that I have two children and appreciate so much more the miracle of birth. I do have to thank my sweet mother-in-law for giving birth to my wonderful husband 28 years ago on June 26th. I am not so sure I would have been so willing to have baby #6 after having five straight boys - she is a brave mommy. I know there was such hope for a girl, but I am SO glad Bry was a boy! I love my man and am so glad to know we will be together forever.
Bry's birthday was more of an emerging birthday weekend. The morning of I snuck out of the house before any of the testosterone producing people in my home were awake and picked up some krispy kreme and balloons (2 balloons to be exact so that the little ones would not fight over them). That afternoon we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at In-N-Out - I had my first double double. Okay, so who all knew they were SO much better than a single?! I got a double since Carter eats so much of mine anyway, but truly the meat:cheese:bun ratio is SO much better on a double double. I don't think I will ever go back to a single. Anyhow - following lunch we made a trip to the pediatrician to make sure the boys did not have ear infections. Lo and behold there can be miracles - both were free and clear!!! Hooray!! And we found out Carter finally broke 20 lbs so it is officially legal for him to be front facing in his carseat **whew**
That afternoon was faily uneventful, but we went out to dinner with some wonderful friends to Bry's favorite restaurant...El Torito! It was a great night with great company. We really miss hanging out with the Shane and Jessica!!! It was so much fun and a nice break from being "mom and dad". My super sister and her hubbie watched the munchkins so we could get away.
Saturday....oooh Saturday. We were in Phoenix from 11-4 pretty much. Bry got LASIK eye surgery done and I attempted to keep the kiddos entertained. Luckily Shane and Jessica live literally 10 minutes from the doc office and they helped entertain the boys with swimming. After that event, all three boys took a nap and I finished birthday shopping (sad I know - VERY late). That night we did presents with Bry....but no cake....that would be Sunday.
Sunday we had a nice day at church and that afternoon I made Bry, per request, Banana Cream Cake like Grandma Melba would make. I have done the cinnamon rolls, but not this cake. He described it and I got a bit more info about it from his mom and off I went. It was not very hard to make and was quite tasty (if you like bananas!). We went to Brig and Camille's to share in the sugary goodness since there was no way we could eat that much cake and my sisters are far from banana lovers (thanks mom!).
All in all I would say it was quite the birthday weekend - I feel bad it was so spaced out with dinner, presents, and cake...but hey - I got it all in there, right?! Being spoiled for three days is definitely better than one, if I do say so myself!!!
Happy Birthday Bry! I love you!! Here is to another year of togetherness!!!
