Shriners

Shriners is a big part of the "Andrew Team". They take care of most of his orthopedic needs and we love them! Every year they throw a huge Christmas party for all the Shiners patients and their families. This was our second year and we love it!

We arrived and are greeted by many smiling, santa-topped Shiner workers. We check in, get one raffle ticket per child (including siblings) and then it is off to the present area. The kids get knitted hats, candy bags, stuffed animals, and more. Drew got a full on build a bear with an outfit while Carter picked out a hotwheels track and Maylee a Barbie. Of course there are pictures with Santa where they get a beanie baby and a coloring book! There are cookies and juice of course. At that point we settled into our seats for the magic show and raffle drawings. The boys loved the show and minus Maylee going through her throw up phase with every cough and making a mess of her Christmas outfit...all went well.

Then came time for the raffle. There were bikes, gift cards, stuffed animals, and an oh so cool little airplane. My boys fell IN LOVE with the airplane. They wanted it BAD. They wanted to go see it, ride in it....play with it. The time came to raffle that one off.

I was busy talking to the boys about how many children were there and how it was okay if we didn't win and amidst my little chat I hear Bry say "Andrew WON!" My little man won the airplane. Drew and Carter were screaming and running up to the front. They plopped Drew right in the driver's seat. There were so many pictures being taken. It was SO fun. All was well until we had to fit the thing in our van to get it home....we made it home....not sure how safe that drive was, but we made it.

This little plane now sits safely and snugly in our garage and is loved by my little boys. We take it out to the street and let them fly around. They love it. I love it...minus how huge it is! As an added cute bonus - the boys love to play magic show now. Carter tells me to sit on the couch and shows me the bird in his hand. Love these boys!
