Halloween is not my favorite holiday. I hate the scary stuff...gross stuff....yucky stuff.....etc, etc, etc. I am learning to get better with my kiddos. I do love the fun stuff like the pumpkin carving, cute costumes, and themed food! This year we went with a bug theme for the boys. Drew was a caterpillar and Carter a spider. Bry and I were going to dress up as pest control people, but I never got around to getting things put together for that.
We went to the pumpkin patch to get our pumpkin. We were going to pay the $7 a kid or whatever the outrageous price is to get in, but the boys had enough fun just walking around with all the pumpkins that we skipped the hay ride and petting farm.
Carter thought it was fun to ride the pumpkins while Drew wanted to climb on everything.
They sat nice to take a picture with Dad....but no so much for Mom.
We went to a neighbor's house the day before Halloween and had a BBQ and pumpkin carving contest. We had lots of fun and won.....most traditional. It was my fault our pumpkin was so boring. I wanted Bry to do something Drew was recognize and associate with what he has learned about pumpkins and such. Next year we will try something more exciting! Bry did a great job carving though and it looked great on our porch.
I am SO glad everyone was healthy and the weather was not too warm for their fuzzy outfits Halloween night. Carter did not like the spider hat with the Velcro under his chin, but left is alone when it was just sitting on his little head (I was so surprised he didn't pull it off).
Drew loves going trick or treating and did great. He was a little nervous at any mask or slightly scary house, but was so brave. Carter made it walking to about three houses and then refused to walk. His legs turned to Jell-o and we had to carry him the rest of the way. Our neighborhood was quite busy and we had fun. Shell and Rich came and joined in the festivities with us and it is always a treat to have them around (and for Rich to help carry a munchkin).
We got lots of candy, but not as much chocolate as Bry would have preferred...*smile*. It is slowly dwindling down and the boys are coming off their sugar high. I finally had to hide it from off the counter because Carter would keep pointing to it and signing please. Funny kid!
Next year maybe we will do a family theme of something. We shall see! As for now - I am glad this holiday has come and gone. Now onto more happy and fabulous holidays!
