Back in Cali Again

Last weekend I ventured out to Cali again, this time equipped my husband. Shell and Rich came along as well and we had a blast! It was so much fun to stay with my parents and all be together.

We arrived late late Friday day, but were warmly greeted with a very excited Poppie and Grammy on the front porch.

Saturday Bry spent the day at the Coliseum with his brothers at the USC game. We spent the day in Ventura. We ate lunch at a sub sandwich shop and then headed to the harbor. Obviously Andrew is still not a fan of eating....nice.

My parents even rented a little boat and we got to ride around the harbor for an hour. My boys had a blast!!! It was funny in the beginning because Andrew was nervous around the boats and did not like the loud honk they made. I can't remember what he was doing, but his hands were busy and he was worried about the noise so he quickly said "close eyes" and squeezed his little lids as closed tight as they would go. We all got a chuckle out of that one. Drew helped drive a bit and fished for spongebob with Shell. It really was quite relaxing!

We ended the day with a wonderful, late dinner at Wood Ranch BBQ. WAY yum!

Sunday we all went to church together and then enjoyed the afternoon with Jess and Tammy. We had a yummy BBQ dinner, took the boys for a walk, went to the park for smores, and played Scattergories late into the night. It was so great to spend so much time all together.

I have no idea how old this cowboy hat is, but we have so many pictures of different family members in it and Jess decided to carry on the tradition. I need to get Shelley's pictures too because I know she got some good ones!

Monday morning my mom and I ran to the local donut store to get a dozen for breakfast. I love California donuts!!!

My little boys went swimming with Uncle Rich and Poppie...and that was quite an adventure!! Drew and Carter both were totally nude, minus Drew's arm floaties. Drew decided to go down the slide. Let me tell you, a naked boy plus slippery slide equals a rocket fast naked boy down the slide! I didn't witness this, but apparently it was hilarious!!! Drew was not about to do it again, but was a good sport. Then, Carter decided he wanted to go off the diving board...after peeing on it of course. He got the edge and was nervous so Rich so lovingly dropped him in for my dad to catch. Again, a naked wet baby means a slippery one. I watched this happen through the window while doing my hair. I about had a heart attack when my little munchie almost slipped through my dad's hands who was waiting in a pink inner tube to catch him. Luckily he was able to get hold and all was good...until Carter started crying of course! Good thing my boys love to swim!!!

Later in the morning we headed to Bry's parents house to do some computer stuff and then we headed off to Kirk and Stacy's for a BBQ and swimming. Andrew loves playing with his cousins. Time went by way too fast and the only picture I ended up with is a tired Andrew and his cousin Austin relaxing and watching TV at the end of the day.

We ended our trip with a dinner out to Reds BBQ with our Simi friends. It was so fun to see everyone and get a little visiting in.

I convinced Bry to leave at 8 instead of 5 in the morning...I was just too tired. We made pretty good time back with only a little traffic from an overturned Semi carrying a half of a manufactured home.

It was so nice to get away and to visit with so much family and see old friends! Next time we will have to make it to the beach....we were just not going to venture there on Memorial Day weekend!

Sorry I missed you while you were here! Would have loved to see you! (things are still hectic with the house though...so maybe next time) I love that you mention all the good food you ate while here, next time you will have to hit up Snapper Jacks in Ventura or Camarillo!
