Therapy Day 7

Thomas is a student and volunteers at Now I Can. He works with Drew Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Drew really likes him and I have been impressed with how great Thomas is with Drew. This morning went better and Drew was a little better with me leaving. He had a good session and was pushed hard. I can tell he is applying what he is learning in therapy to his life outside of therapy.....

We went to the zoo today and I had to run little sister to the bathroom so Drew was hanging out with his cousin and friend (wonderful helpers for me this week!) and when I came back he was being cradled and sobbing. Apparently he fell on the stairs and he scraped his knee. He looked and me and said "I didn't catch myself." It just broke my heart. I know he has been working SO hard to do this during therapy. They do a lot of stairs and balance and his sweet little face just looked so disappointed and defeated that he was not able to catch himself from falling. We put a band-aid on his cut, a kiss on his forehead, and a word of encouragement and he collected himself and was off having fun again, but goodness that just broke my heart.

Tomorrow marks our half way point with his session and apparently he is already down 1/2 inch in his leg length discrepancy which is HUGE!
