Family Home Evening Success

Our first FHE of the year of 2009 was a success. I used a lesson from a church email I get every Monday.  It was on choices. Andrew does well with object lessons and interactive play. This particular lesson had an object lesson about choices using juice and colored water. We had a glass of water colored red and a glass of red Kool-Aid. We talked about Satan’s enticements.  Satan will try hard to make his traps look appealing and good however, the only source of true joy and happiness is from our Father in Heaven.  Anything else is counterfeit. I had Andrew and Bryan take a drink of the water…noticing the lack of flavor and we compared it to Satan’s approach. He makes sin so inviting; but once we partake, we realize it’s a counterfeit joy.  Heavenly Father offers us the real thing. We then got to drink the Kool-Aid which tasted much better! Andrew was so funny and kept taking sips out of both the glasses throughout the rest of the lesson. I figure I can also use this lesson later on with salt and sugar possibly…or other variations. We also had a thought, scripture, song, and story all tied in to the topic. I do love family night – even if it only lasts a total of 5 minutes!DSCN0339

very good one. I may use that one. My FHE on the other hand last Monday got shortened on account of pain. Pain in the necks that is. It was crazy and I quit it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
