Better Days

Today was one of "those" days. Not sure what made it an off weather day for me, but it was. Bry and I were excited to get the keys to our new home (renting of course...more to come on the house in another posts when we have pictures) and my mom picked Andrew up from school - what would I do without her! Then....it all snowballed from there. I passed up on the opportunity to get my hair done by my ever so wonderful and willing sister, so I was sad not to have a new do...Carter took a rather short nap (who knew Amoxicillin makes a baby hyper!)...then the kicker...

I decided to take the boys to Bryan's team's basketball game. I got them fed and ready. I knew the cross streets of where it was, but figured I could get ahold of Bry on the way to get the exact location. No luck - he wasn't answering. How hard can it be to find a high school basketball game, right?! Wrong!!! I honestly, truly truly drove around for an HOUR trying to find the game. Here I was so excited to get there for the jump in the beginning, but no luck. We never found the game and went home defeated. It was somewhere between minutes 15-20 of searching that my headache set in and lasted for the next few hours. Bryan, of course, was so apologetic and didn't think we were planning on coming to the game. Net time I will be sure to have good directions. Ah well - what do you do.

To top it off, we still needed milk. So we got the boys to bed and off I went to the grocery store. I meandered the isles and got some good deals. In my moment of weakness of bought a box of the most divine doughnuts known to man - Entenmanns softees...my excuse was I had no dinner. Good excuse, right?! donut

I got in line to check out behind a mother...a mother of four who had all her children with her and was couponing with Coupon Sense - good for her. I just smiled and waited patiently as they unloaded their TWO carts. Another cashier spotted me and pulled me over to ring me out. I am happy to report I saved more than I spent! I finished just as the coupon mommy did...and as I watched her take her four children and many many groceries out of the store at 9:00 at night, I decided I was grateful that I was at the store childless, which does not happen often these days.

Sigh - now I sit as Bryan is at the new house unloading our first load of stuff....ah to be moving once again. Hopefully we won't have to again for a while, but I am not going to hold my breath!

And, of course, a picture to make everyone’s day a little brighter!DSCN0460

That is a great pic of your boys. I am sorry you had one of those days. Nothing gives me a headache faster than driving with my kids and not getting anywhere...good luck with the move. I hope you had a good nights sleep and feel much much better today.

Megan! You have kids! Awesome! It has been a while. I can relate to the mother of 4 children, 2 carts, and at the store. In fact, I am tackling that fun task this morning. How are you guys?

Sorry to hear about your off day. Mine was dealing with a sick girl who doesn't know what she wants. How exciting that you are moving! Can't wait to get the update on that!

The good news is that those days are relatively few. Here's to going shopping childless! Woo hoo!
P.S. That's funny about the amoxicillin making him hyper. Brenda is on it too and it makes him a little sleepy. Funny how drugs affect us different ways.

Well getting lost is nothing new to me! In fact we used to get lost together quite often (how can we forget the Hurricane Harbor/Compton incident). It sure can be frustrating I'm sure, especially with 2 young ones in tow! Today will be better! :)

I had no idea you were moving into a rental? Where is it at? Are you going to be in our ward still?

I just wanted to post a few tips that might help you that help me when I'm lost - #1 awesomest thing ever is Google 411. It's free! I have their number programmed into my phone. 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411). You call in and it's all automated. In fact, I called just tonight to find Dixie High School for Kent's basketball game. It tells me the exact address, and it will even connect you to the store by phone if you want.

Tip #2, if I am lost, I call someone and tell them where I'm at - have them look it up on Google Maps and then tell me how to get from where I'm at to where I want to be. Usually I can always find someone who has a computer handy.
